What offline-ready means
Offline-ready means the browser has completed its one-time setup and cached the processing resources required by the file types you intend to use. It does not mean every document format, OCR case or image has been tested automatically.
The source document, extracted text, findings and replacement mapping remain in the browser session. Account, plan and entitlement data are a separate reconnect concern.
Setup checklist before disconnecting
Run this checklist on the same browser profile and device that will handle the confidential file. A cleared site cache, private window or new device needs its own setup.
- Open /app while connected and wait until the workspace reports Offline Ready.
- Allow extra time for the local OCR model when scanned pages or embedded images are in scope.
- Process one native PDF, one scanned PDF and one DOCX while connected; export and open each result.
- Disconnect only after the resources are ready, then reload the app and confirm the offline state persists.
- After the offline export, reconnect and confirm account allowance synchronization without uploading document content.
Test matrix
Record the browser, operating system, file type, cache state and export result. A green setup indicator is not a substitute for these file-level checks.
| Scenario | Expected result | Record |
|---|---|---|
| Native PDF | Text is read locally; findings can be reviewed and the export can be reopened. | Search result and export verification. |
| Scanned PDF | OCR works only after its model is cached; low-quality text remains a human-review boundary. | OCR readiness and missed-character notes. |
| DOCX text | Paragraphs, tables, headers and footers remain reviewable locally. | Formatting and known-value search after export. |
| Embedded PNG/JPEG | Supported images are OCR-reviewed; unsupported or unsafe rewrites fail closed. | Image format, OCR result and export behavior. |
| Missing cache | The app shows setup required instead of claiming offline readiness. | Recovery prompt and re-setup time. |
| Reconnect | Pending verified usage can sync after connectivity returns; document bytes remain local. | Allowance state before and after reconnect. |
What this evidence does not claim
Offline processing reduces network exposure during local analysis. It does not prove that every private value was detected, that every image was readable, or that a later AI provider will retain no data. Always inspect the exported file and share only the minimum context required for the task.
