PII is more than a phone number
Personally identifiable information includes direct identifiers and combinations of details that can identify a person, organization or matter. In a contract or business document, that can include a client name, company name, address, email, phone number, tax ID, case number or registration number.
Brand names and protected work titles may also need replacement when the goal is to share a neutralized document for analysis or comparison.
Build the AI-ready copy locally
Start with the original file on your device. A detector can propose likely private values, but the document owner must decide what should change. AnonymizeDocs keeps the original and mapping in the browser session while you review.
- Look for people, organizations, brands and addresses in context, not only in obvious fields.
- Check structured identifiers such as email, phone, ID, tax, bank, case and registration numbers.
- Use stable placeholders when the same entity appears more than once.
- Verify the exported file with text search and a visual scan before uploading it.
Avoid overpromising privacy
No automated detector can guarantee that every private detail has been found, especially in poor scans, handwriting, diagrams or unusual layouts. Use the output as a controlled preparation step and keep professional judgment in the loop.
Important: AnonymizeDocs is a document preparation tool, not legal advice or a guarantee that every sensitive value has been found.
